From November 2025 to March 2026, architects Amelie Bimberg and Lea Frenz, founders of Bimberg&Frenz, were the fifth residents in the programme initiated by Architecture Curating Practice in May 2023.
During the five-month residency, Amelie Bimberg and Lea Frenz conducted an extensive survey of the euro, exploring the origins and meanings of money while probing its complex relationship with power. Through a vibrant and eclectic body of research, they assembled a series of stories which, taken together, form a partial and fragmented account of how cash shapes and interferes with our built environment and cultural landscape. In doing so, they question the role of architecture in shaping the collective imagination, while opening up the possibility of a renewed architectural imagery for the euro.
The publication includes contributions by Helena Andersson, Maarten Delbeke, Jantje Engels & Celeste Tellarini. Across its three chapters, Bimberg&Frenz and the various contributors navigate between notions of capital exchange, historical origins, witty anecdotes, and future speculations, offering a multiplicity of installations and narratives. The publication also showcases 33 proposals for a new euro design by offices from across the eurozone.
